We’re looking for an experienced modeller with leadership experience to lead one of our modelling delivery teams.

You will:

• Understand and have led fluvial modelling work.

• Have a passion for developing teams, managing performance and productivity.

• Plan, monitor and control resources to maximise the efficient and effective use of people in order to ensure that all activities are completed to time, cost and quality;

• Lead and support team members through change effectively, so that improvements and benefits are realised and better ways of working delivered which support customer and environmental needs;

• Provide advice and guidance on fluvial modelling and forecasting and help develop appropriate solutions to problems.

• Establish and maintain good relationships with internal/external partners.

• Promote and enhance Environment Agency goals and reputation;

• Participate or lead on national projects and working groups to achieve well-planned and managed integrated solutions that progress effective change and improvement in the organisation.
Evidence and Risk teams provide evidence and advice on a range of environmental risks. Our hydrological expertise alongside our fluvial and coastal modelling and forecasting information is used in decision making for flood and coast risk management including new and improved flood defences, land use planning (to avoid inappropriate development in the floodplain) and incident management, including emergency planning, response and recovery, so that we can better prepared and more resilient to hazards.
You will:

• Have great communication skills and be able to adapt your style to multiple audiences.

• Think strategically, advising and managing complex programmes and budgets;

• Lead on planning, monitoring and overseeing department resources to maximise the efficient/effective use of our teams/budgets to ensure delivery;

• Lead and support the team, coaching, developing and nurturing talent;

• Promote a continuous improvement environment so that improvements and benefits are realised and better ways of working are delivered which support customer and environmental needs;

• Provide advice/guidance to the team and internal/external customers, developing appropriate solutions to problems within policy/best practice guidelines;

• Establish and maintain good relationships with internal/external partners to understand their activities and promote/enhance Environment Agency goals and reputation;

• Participate or lead on national initiatives & engage with communities of practice projects to achieve well-planned and managed integrated solutions that contribute towards our EA2025 mission.
