You’ll lead project teams to deliver our organisation’s strategic ambitions; having the ability to build a great working environment and develop high performing teams, including collaborative working with our supply partners spread across different locations. Building a strong network of relationships inside and outside the organisation.

You will play a key role in technical leadership within our local leadership group. You’ll use your strong interpersonal skills to build and develop a resilient network of working relationships both inside and outside the organisation with Stakeholders and Partners. You’ll use your influencing skills with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, local councils, landowners, and local communities to negotiate agreements, gain approvals and secure external funding.

You’ll apply strong commercial acumen in project, contract, and risk management to establish effective supply-partner relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working, following governance and escalation procedures, decision-making as either a Project Executive or Senior Project Manager. We’ll expect you to enhance the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through feasibility, detailed design and into implementation, construction, and handover.

You will assist your Project Team Manager with workload planning, recruitment, and training, and support your team to develop them in their technical project management role.
We are Programme and Contract Management (PCM) Team, creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. Our teams provide the Environment Agency with an effective project, contract, and programme management service. Our well-qualified staff manage projects throughout their life-cycle to deliver flood risk management, environmental improvements, and shared ownership with local communities.
Likely qualified to degree level or equivalent in engineering, environmental or geography related discipline ideally with chartered membership of relevant professional body eg ICE, CIWEM or APMP, but not essential if you have at least 5 years’ experience and proven track record of great leadership in a project delivery or programme environment.

A passionate leader, with ability to build a great working environment and bring out the best in collaborative and high performing teams across different locations. You’ll be skilled in developing people, managing performance, delivering through others, building inclusive relationships, and embedding excellence and knowledge sharing.

Holding a Portfolio, Programme, Project or Contract Management qualification or chartered membership status would be an advantage but is not essential and will form part of your development plan. However, it’s the way you inspire people and innovate that will set you apart – along with big-picture thinking that can improve our operations.
