As an Area Asset Management Advisor you'll be responsible for leading on/helping to shape a variety of work areas, ensuring our flood risk management assets are effectively managed from cradle to grave. You'll work closely with Team Leaders and the Catchment Engineer to provide technical advice/assurance to deliver our whole life asset management. The role may include:
• Being a decision maker for our flood and coastal erosion risk management assets, and responsible for ensuring our assets meet performance and legal requirements;
• Technical leadership of other team members, assisting with their development and supporting the Team Leader with the management of the team;
• Asset management planning;
• Operational plans, including all phases of operation;
• Long Term Investment Plans;
• Contributing to the development of pipeline projects/business cases;
• Working as a Senior User ensuring our supply chain deliver the asset investment that meets the defined need;
• Leading on communications/engagement with key partners, for both the delivery of our maintenance programme and for the safe/effective operation of 3rd party assets;
• Leading on data management/improvements.
Incident management forms a crucial part of the job and you will be expected to participate in a standby/out of hours role.

Area Asset Management Teams manage the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal erosion risk management assets, i.e. planning, delivery, maintenance, decommissioning. They are responsible for ensuring our assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained, and operated in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. We reduce flood risk to people and property by ensuring our assets operate as intended and deliver multiple benefits where required.
As a senior member of the team, you’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and help harness and develop skills within other members of the team to deliver asset management activities. You will help develop technical resilience and rise to the challenge of the Environment Agency becoming leading asset managers.
Experience in civil engineering and asset management activities is essential. You will be expected to solve asset management problems and understand engineering reports and use them to inform your decision making.
You should have experience of working within a professional project or programme management environment. You should be able to show you can deliver value and benefits to the end user.
You will need a driving licence.
Desirable
Membership (or working towards membership) of an appropriate professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or IAM.
